Captain Joe and the Wayward Star Ship (Star-Crossed Lovers Cross the Stars) – Synopsis
Joe has successfully escaped from Spero Spondeo with fellow prisoner Io. The attempt to organize an entire liberation of the work camp was unsuccessful but did result in a handful of prisoners escaping from the Nazi run planet. Joe and Io are now trapped on the Star Ship Algo, as it received damage during the escape. Intense emotions have now developed between Joe and Io, and they feel as though they are falling in love with each other.
When the ship left the atmosphere, Io collapsed. When Joe goes to assist her, she pushes him aside and seals herself in the adjacent control room. Frantically working the alien control panel, she suddenly takes a deep breath and begins to regain her strength. Io, being a native of a distant plant near the Earth labelled Eagle Nebula, remains on one side of the star ship, where the atmosphere can be adjusted to her physical make-up, while Joe stays on the other, separated by a large metal door with a small observation window. The atmosphere on Spero Spondeo had been controlled on the work camps, allowing the robots to capture beings from all planets to work on dark matter mining project. Joe has repaired an escape pod on his side of the ship, allowing him to escape and return back to the Moon. A working distress beacon has been activated, assuring Io will be rescued. Joe realizes the two of them can not have a future, but that does not affect his emotions for her. The situation for Joe is relived; he must leave the woman he loves in order to continue his mission and discover his place in the universe.
lyrics
Captain Joe and the Wayward Starship (Star-Crossed Lovers Cross the Stars)
I woke up at some dawn
And watched a moon rise
Reflected light from a distant star
Just as asleep as you are
Just as you are
All circuits stay down
From the escaping explosion
Controls are silent, peacefully
Debating any regret
All my regret
You are so lovely
It defies everything
Still I stand watching
And can’t do anything
But the image in my mind will serve the furthest longing
If we can not touch we will survive to pass on our story
Our story
If you wake up late
I’ll already be gone
And when you wake up late
I’ll already be gone
Yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah
And when you wake up late
The signal sent out afar
Beacon’s message will be answered
My pod will already launch
But you’ll be saved
You’ll be saved
You’ll be saved
You’ll be saved
Saved
