This is Gyles’ second appearance to Joe, who appears in slightly different forms each time. Here Gyles reveals his true nature; a cybernetic man who deals in all aspects of space, has a working knowledge and supply over various technological devices, and as a moral booster and guide for the troops. On one hand he is outgoing and odd, the other sly and manipulative. Gyles is a man of many talents and motives, needed for his ingenuity and revered for his cunning.
