Tomorrow, humanity takes its first attempt to conquer the furthest reaches of space. As a symbol of global solidarity, an international vote will be taken establishing an Earth-wide space research society. First described as “an inter-stellar United Nations” by main stream press, the United Global Galactic Pact pooled all the world’s nations resources together in a common goal of surveying the mysteries of the stars, and strengthen the search for intelligent life on other planets. The U.G.G.P. flourished, a beaming exemplar of human achievement. By creating an international group with a mission to help all of humanity through advancing technology, and profit sharing any dividends created from that technology, the U.G.G.P. was able to unify the global citizenship profoundly more than any other Earthly organization. Amid controversy of political undermining, cultural insensitivity, and conspiracy of world domination, the U.G.G.P. became a leading player in world affairs, amassing headquarters in every major centre, and recruiting the finest scientists, pilots, and soldiers available. Establishing their own training centres and universities, the U.G.G.P. transformed the mindset of humanities opinions regarding space travel and lunar prospecting, hoping to find resources intergalactically to benefit and profit humankind.
This story follows the life of a boy named Joe. Raised as an Air Force Army brat and self-educated amateur scientist, Joe travels from city to city as his father moves from base to base, never having time to amass friends or build real relationships. Truthfully, Joe never minded not having friends. In fact, the constant moving allowed him an excuse to not cultivate connections which distract him from his work, mainly, the continued search for life in space. Since a young age, Joe has felt a certain pull to the stars, as though some force was trying to seduce him star-ward, some night goddess seducing his heart with whispers of adventure and discovery. Joe never felt certain about his place in the social constructs of humanity. Often, he felt as though he were a visitor to some exhibit, observing the way people acted and behaved, taking life in through the safety glass which surrounded his personal enclosure.
Growing up, Joe has his first experience with zero gravity in high school, before finally making his full ascension to the stars as an adult. Once among the regions of space, Space Joe begins to discover a new meaning to his life, and creates a celestial course previously uncharted by any other human being.
This is the adventure of Space Joe: Ad Astra - To the Stars.
