Joe has finished, and successfully completed, his first mission to wondrous adulations and praise. Haunted by self-doubt, he has entered a “season” (saeculum) of sorrow brought about by his heroic actions. He realizes he is now considered a hero at home (The U.G.G.P. Moon Base) where as on the planet he has just attacked he is considered a tyrant. A “saeculum” or season, being an undisclosed time of period, usually a generation of 90 years in antiquity, of sorrow has enveloped Joe: he has discovered the price of finally succeeding in his mission to find his life goal has created his greatest regret. The saeculum could also describe Joe’s life as, up to this point, he feels even greater remorse and out of place in his life decisions. After all he has achieved, he feels worse off, wondering if the murders he committed to protect his new home are warranted or justified.
lyrics
Saeculum: Heroic Pathos
Can not keep my present mind
Happiness foiled, despised
Lost myself in humankind
Tomorrow shadows shaping lines
Hope’s horizon needs to shine
Light my future, save my life
Head lifted with eyes kept down
Block space’s spherical sounds
Breathe in black until I drown
Acceptance kills the guilty round
Indict the sight of the profound
Conscience floating all around
Actions destroy core beliefs
Distract all wonders I have seen
Taking over life with grief
Floating crimes in weightlessness
Spread the decay of regret
Breathe in the ink in to forget and kill the memory of it
