Welcome to the Moon, Man – Synopsis

Joe has made has found the source of the red flashing light, a small beacon atop a giant door way. There were no tracks or foot prints to lead him here, being that without atmosphere, there would be not disruption of the dusty lunar surface. Obviously, however, someone must be here. There is a small brass plaque attached to the giant concrete structure nest to the door. He runs his hand space-suited hand across the plaque, as though the physical stimulation is proof of its existence. The plaque reads: “Quando Dio vuole castigarci ci manda quello che desideriamo." Mind reeling, Joe recognizes this Italian quotation from a lesson in his Philosophy of Flight and Flight Ethics Class he took at the I.S.R.P. : "When God wants us to be punished he grants that which we desire.” Is this some kind of cosmic joke? Or is it a warning, a reminder for humility and modesty?
Just then two panels in the middle of the giant door slide a part, creating a passageway for Joe to enter. Pausing momentarily, Joe steps through the opening in to a darkened corridor with vaulted ceiling, a dim light in the distance. Joe walks, yet again, to the light source. The light is shining through a translucent opaque wall; Joe can see light and forms on the other side, but cannot make out any details or specific qualities. “Now what?” he wonders, looking through this mysterious barrier. A second wall suddenly ascends from the floor behind him. Realizing his is about to be trapped, Space Joe lunges forward and grabs the top of the new wall, trying to jump over or pull it back down; it is too late. Joe hangs on to the wall as it brings him closer to the ceiling. He lets go before getting to much higher, not wanting to be crushed between the wall and the ceiling or too be so high up the resulting fall would injure or kill him.
Trapped between to opaque walls, one backed by light, one backed by darkness, Joe stands tall, awaiting whatever his fate may be. At this point, whoever, or whatever, is behind all this, is in control. Now, he must simply react to whatever happens next.
Suddenly, the area between the two walls is flooded with light, a violent gust of wind almost throws Joe to the ground accompanied by a high pitch squeal. By instinct, Joe claps his hands to his helmet to block out the sound but is blocked by his space helmet. After five seconds of noise and light and wind, it instantly stops, leaving Joe froze in a grimace, his hands still clutching his helmet.
When Joe slowly begins to bring his hands down, the original lit wall begins to ascend to the ceiling, revealing a brass and gold control room, with a large control facing him, and a small welcoming committee.
Joe is given a tour of the facility, and learns quickly what each section of the giant moon base is for. After his initiation, he begins his training for military space training to begin his work for the United Global Galactic Pact.

Welcome to the Moon, Man

Secretary Starshyna:
Nice to see that you made it
Late, but with your own space ship
Don’t seem so shocked or surprised
We’ve been tracking you most of your life

Projected satellite signals
Programmed to find the strong-willed
To help us on our existing mission

P.R.C. Goebbels:
To try to spread human civilization

Ensemble:
Welcome to the Moon, Man

P.R.C. Goebbels:
Welcome
You’ve been proven as worthy
Defeating all adversaries
You’re not a prisoner to gravity

Now here
You will meet your true peers
The gifted beings of everywhere
Discover why you made it here

Kleron (Kler.) Warnoah:
And you will see with clarity
In all you’ve done
Your real life has now begun

Ensemble:
Welcome to the Moon, Man

Sgm. Mym:
Hurry
This is no time for niceties
I don’t need soldiers who float around
You must stop at nothing and not back down

Pvt. Dowlans:
Through here
Discover your missions but don’t fear
We’ll get you ready but be prepared
The cosmos’ surprises are never clear

Dr. Valis:
Strength and trust
Will guide your way
Space and time
Can be controlled in many ways

Prof. Zane:
When you think your way is lost
You’ll find a way out at every single cost

Secretary Starshyna:
Now that you met us
Settle in for a quick rest
Have a snack at our group mess
Then prepare for your next test

Your uniform will be waiting
Gravity boots and gun sling
Don’t worry about breathing
Get ready for your training
